Tooth WhiteningTooth whitening can be a practical method of lightening the colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surfaces, so it is very conservative of tooth material and under the guidance of a dentist, very safe. It can result in a dramatic colour change; but may also be used to give a more youthful appearance to the teeth in a subtle way. Single, dark or heavily stained teeth (possibly following root treatment), can also be whitened using the latest simple and safe whitening technology. It is possible to change the appearance of a tooth or teeth to restore or enhance a natural look and a great smile, sometimes in just a matter of hours. |
Smile EnhancementThrough a variety of the modern techniques, (together with appropriate orthodontic treatment, if required), we can help you to achieve a better, more natural and healthy-looking smile. This involves carefully planning treatments to enhance or adjust the shape of a patient’s teeth by means of veneers or crowns or white fillings or a combination of all of these, to achieve an improved appearance. Porcelain VeneersPorcelain Veneers are specially crafted pieces of porcelain that are shaped to fit over the surface of your existing teeth, (rather like false finger nails). These are often used to change the appearance of teeth either in colour or shape, or to repair cracked and damaged teeth or to fill in gaps. |
White FillingsWhite Fillings can be used instead of the more traditional Silver colour amalgam and blended to match the existing colour of the tooth being filled. White fillings should be almost invisible to the naked eye. Worn, broken or older stained fillings can all be newly colour-matched to blend with the natural colour of your teeth. |

An Implant is a titanium metal post. The implant is secured into the jaw onto which a new bespoke tooth may be placed to give the appearance of an original tooth.
|
The implant must integrate to the bone before the crown may be attached and this process may take a few months. The advantage of an implant is that it involves no shaping of the teeth either side of a gap and it preserves bone in the jaw there. Implants are generally very effective and may offer a long-lasting solution to patients who want to avoid removable false teeth. |
Crowns are protective jackets, usually tooth-coloured, that are placed over a tooth to add strength when that tooth has been broken or is very worn, very heavily filled or has been root treated, (which makes a tooth more brittle and liable to fracture).
|
Bridges are a method of replacing missing teeth when they have been lost. There are 2 types of fixed bridgework: The first is an adhesive bridge involving little tooth preparation. The adhesive bridge is bonded into place on the teeth adjacent to the gap. The second type of bridge is conventional bridgework usually involving the placement of a crown on the tooth behind and in front of the gap with a false tooth fused to, and situated in-between, the crowns. |

Removable dentures or “False Teeth” can be used to fill in gaps in the mouth created by the removal or absence or natural teeth or where no teeth are present due to oral disease or decay.
|
We take extra care with every patient to try and ensure that your teeth look as natural and feel as comfortable as possible, matching tones and colours to existing teeth or as required. Regular check-ups are recommended following the installation of dentures to make any adjustments that may be required |
Root canal treatment is used to save a tooth when the dental pulp (blood vessels and nerve in the centre of the tooth) dies and the tooth becomes infected.
|
The cause of infection is usually decay in the tooth, under a filling or due to the fracture of a tooth. Without treatment, this can cause a dental abscess resulting in pain, swelling and infection of the jaw bone. When a tooth nerve has died, the only alternative to carrying out root canal treatment is to remove the tooth. The aim of root canal therapy is to avoid removal of the tooth where possible. |
Dr Miller treats gum disease. Such treatment can also help alleviate bad breath.Gum disease is insidious – it is a process that is usually pain-less, and can result in the destruction of the socket bone supporting a tooth; leading to increased movement and drifting of such a tooth and possibly resulting in the loss of that tooth.
|
Very careful cleaning of the surface of the tooth root, together with instruction in home tooth cleaning techniques can allay or eliminate the destructive process of gum disease. |
Snoring can lead to friction at home, resulting in couples sleeping apart and can be socially devastating.Snoring can be a symptom of obstruction of the airways, blocking the ability to breathe properly at night. This means snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea can result in a decrease in oxygen getting to the brain during sleep. This can result in the snorer feeling perpetually tired, grumpy and leading to that person tending to fall asleep during the day, and possibly being more prone to illness or accident.
|
Dr Miller has extensive experience in the treatment of people who snore or suffer from obstructive sleep apnoea which typically will involve the construction of an oral appliance specifically tailored to each patient to manage and treat their particular condition The treatments that Dr Miller provides, can greatly improve the quality of sleep, leaving a patient feeling less tired during the day, and better able to share a room with a partner at night. Dr Miller also constructs appliances for TMJ (jaw joint) disorders to help alleviate the symptoms of headache, backache and tooth grinding. |
