Dr Douglas Miller - Dental Surgeon

Anxiety Control / Dental Phobia

  • Many people put off coming to the dentist because of fear. Although they may require treatment, they only come when in severe pain.
  • If left simple problems can develop into more complex ones.
  • Here at Dr Miller's dental practice, those who are anxious are treated with care and understanding. It is Dr Miller's philosophy to treat patients, as he would like to be treated himself.
  • At Dr Miller's practice, patients have the opportunity of visiting Sharon Floyd, Dip.CPC, a qualified counsellor, specialising in dental phobia with many years experience in dental practice as a dental nurse, receptionist and practice manager. Sharon can help dental phobics overcome their fears and enable them to take the first step towards successful treatment.

  • Counselling provides an opportunity to talk through your fears and past experiences of dental treatment with someone trained to listen and understand.

  • You may be experiencing feelings of low self esteem and lack of confidence associated with dental phobia. Counselling can provide the support and encouragement to be able to talk through your feelings and experiences, and move on, and, in time you may be able to put your dental fears behind you. Sometimes feelings of dental anxiety and phobia are linked to claustrophobia and fear of panic attacks.
  • If you would like to contact Sharon Floyd directly please email her at sharon@sfloyd25.fsnet.co.uk
